Sophia Huber is celebrating her 5 year anniversary of being Miss German-America!

Sophia has been an active member in the German-American community from a young age and has marched in the Steuben Parade with her Schuhplattler club, S.V.V. Original Enzian, for many years. Before being Miss German-America in 2019, Sophia was the PVV Queen in 2013, played flute in the Foehrer Musik Fruende, and attended German language school. Growing up watching her fellow Original Enzian members in the role of Miss German-America, Sophia always knew that she wanted to do the same to promote German-American culture as a spokeswoman and Goodwill Ambassador.

The Grand Marshal of the 62nd German-American Steuben Parade was Emily Haber, a German ambassador to the United States. When asked what the highlight of her reign was, Sophia said:

Too many to choose just one! There were many incredible events all over the tristate area from Original Enzian’s Bavarian Heritage Festival, to Steuben Parade weekend festivities and the Central Park Oktoberfest, to the Philadelphia parade. The true highlight of the reign was getting to meet so many other people in the community that I probably would not have been exposed to if I had not been involved in this way. It is wonderful to see how many people are proud of their heritage and want to make sure that our traditions are continued on for years to come.

Sophia remains active in the community as a dancing member in her Schuhplattler club, and continues to assist in events like the Central Park Oktoberfest and German American Night at Eisenhower Park.

Sophia’s advice to future court members:

Congratulations on undoubtedly a very special achievement! You have been selected for this because you are a prime example of what it means to be a German-American. Share our heritage proudly and take in and enjoy every second of this time – it truly goes so fast.
