Stefani Kraker is celebrating her 5-year anniversary as Miss German-America!

Currently a Speech-Language Pathologist in the New York area (with two published research papers) as well as an active dancer in S.V.V. Original Enzian of Franklin Square, NY, Stefani continues to support the Steuben Parade.

She became interested in applying for the Steuben Parade court after participating in the Parade for many years. Inspired by seeing young women she knew and looked up to, including her older sister, represent the community as members of the court lead her to apply in 2013 (Princess) and then again in 2014 (Queen). Stefani was always encouraged by family to be proud of her heritage which led to her involvement in the Parade to honor her ancestors.

The Grand Marshal of the 2014 Parade was Emmy award-winning journalist and news anchor, John W. Muller. A highlight of her reign was the personal conversations with members of the German-American community who shared their cultural journeys and information about their club affiliations. Interacting with and getting to know the German-Americans in the area, especially the children, was very exciting for Stefani. “I was happy to be a positive example for the young women in our community.” The S.V.V. Original Enzian of Franklin Square, NY has been an important part of Stefani’s involvement (she is a member since she was 4 years old!) where the Schuhplattler traditions of Bavaria, Germany are upheld. Stefani takes pride in representing the club and creating a sense of Bavarian Gemütlichkeit with others.

Stefani’s Advice For Future Court Members –

I would encourage future court members to make the most of the experience and get to know the members of the German-American community. This is a unique opportunity which allows you to reach many people, learn about our shared history, and be the face of our culture.
